GSB Marketing Internship
A great experience during the GSB Marketing Internship was participating in the creation and organization of digital marketing content for a specific audience. This experience taught me that good marketing is not just about looks. It is about knowing your audience, communicating a particular message and evaluating the success of your efforts. This experience was related to my course in Economics because it helped me understand how consumer preferences can affect business decisions.
Operations Manager
One of the best aspects of my experience as an Operations Manager was the ability to juggle various responsibilities while making sure that the day-to-day operations ran smoothly. This was about being able to communicate with the different members of the team, to solve any issues that arise and make sure that different tasks get done correctly and in time. This gave me insight into what true leadership isn’t about giving orders but also being dependable and help your team to succeed.
Shore Fitness Internship
One such critical situation that took place while on internship at Shore Fitness involved a case whereby the instructor was not available to conduct a particular class. This was not part of the normal duties of the front desk attendant, but I was able to handle the situation calmly and ensure that the class went on without any problem. This was a situation that reinforced the need for flexibility and confidence. While on the internship program, I also got the opportunity to be involved in many other activities such as dealing with membership, customer services, and billing among others.
APRU Cares
Working with other members to support charitable and community focused efforts was one memorable part of my time with APRU Cares. Being part of a cultural club gave me the chance to bond with people from various walks of life while supporting causes that helped others. This experience has taught me the importance of teamwork, cultural awareness and social responsibility. It taught me that professional development doesn’t stop at the classroom or office. I believe supporting the community helps to build leadership, empathy, and communication skills which will be important to me throughout my career.
